Japan 6 Months On

Just six months ago the triple blow of the earthquake, tsunami and consequent nuclear incident had a devastating effect on Japan.

But, with remarkable resilience, the country and its people are recovering, and while there obviously remains much to do in rebuilding and rehabilitation, they clearly believe that getting business back on track will help to get the country back to normal.

Australia and New Zealand

EMDA, Nottingham
Tue 8th Dec 2009, 07:45 to 10:00

This event has finished.

Would you like to expand your company into new markets which have business, legal and cultural similarities to those in the UK? If so, why not take a look at Australia and New Zealand and tap into the potential these countries can offer!

Australia has weathered the global recession better than many other developed countries and companies doing business there will be well placed to benefit from new opportunities that arise as the world economy recovers. The UK has an extensive economic and trade relationship with the country which resulted in the UK being Australia’s 7th largest source of merchandise imports and 2nd largest source of services imports in 2008.

New Zealand was ranked by a 2009 World Bank survey as the number two country for ease of doing business, second only to Singapore. UK exports to New Zealand were worth £343m for the year ended March 2009, with East Midlands businesses benefiting from £27m of this value.

This breakfast seminar will be held on Tuesday 8 December at East Midlands Development Agency (emda) in Nottingham. We have arranged for an expert from both the British Consulate-General in Melbourne and Auckland to join us and share their knowledge on:

·         Current trading conditions

·         Business opportunities and primary sectors

·         Market entry and start up considerations

·         Using these markets as a springboard into Asia

·         Common barriers and how to overcome them

We will also hear from a regional company which has successfully entered the New Zealand market and is now targeting Australia – its approach, difficulties and successes.

Finally before the morning is drawn to a close, there will be the opportunity for one lucky delegate to win a club class return ticket with British Airways to Australia for a business development visit.
