Communicate better with your overseas customers

Because we know that communicating well overseas can make all the difference to your export success UKTI has arranged a programme of heavily subsidised language and culture training sessions for the region's businesses. Building on the success of last year's training, we are expanding the countries and languages covered.

The Beginners Courses will cover:

• Culture

Business etiquette, Dress code, Expectations of punctuality, Introductions, Format of the meeting, Negotiation, Business ethics, Keeping the relationship going, Gift giving, Social etiquette, Dining out, Tipping, Meeting the family.

• Language

Meeting and greeting, Addressing people, Numbers, Formalities, Days of the week,

Telephone conversations, Food and drink, Saying goodbye.

Intermediate courses are available and will cover similar subject matter but at a higher linguistic level. These courses are designed for those who have already received some training in the language (e.g. GCSE) or have a reasonable level of confidence. All the tutors are business people with experience of teaching at this level.

How much does it cost?

The courses are heavily subsidised by UKTI costing just £30 for the full day, including a buffet lunch. A maximum of 2 people per company may attend each course. Those companies who are participating in either Passport to Export or Gateway to Global Growth are eligible to attend 2 courses free of charge.
