South Korea - Open For Business

New opportunities for your business in South Korea

EMDA, Nottingham
Thu 18th Mar 2010, 07:45 to 10:00

This event has finished.

Join emita for a breakfast seminar on Thursday 18 March 2010 to discover the benefits and opportunities that will be opened up to your business through the proposed EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement.

Located between the two superpowers of Japan and China, South Korea is Asia’s fourth largest economy and is home to 50 million people. The country is eager to reduce its dependence on the US and Japan and is increasingly looking to Europe as a source of imports.

This free trade deal will liberalise goods tariffs and encourage increased business between British and South Korean companies, with analysis indicating the UK could benefit by up to £500m.

The event will take place at the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) in Nottingham and our guest speakers, including experts from the British Embassy in Seoul, will share their knowledge on:

·         The vast opportunities available following the new free trade agreement with South Korea and how your business can benefit

·         Market information including the current trading conditions and sectoral opportunities

·         How to connect with Korean partners or set up and expand in Korea

·         Business culture in Korea – the dos and don’ts

Tips and advice will also be offered from a regional company on how they are already achieving success in the Korean market. In addition, each delegate will receive a free copy of the recently commissioned UKTI report on the significant opportunities that the free trade agreement brings.

After the seminar, our market experts Mikie Park, Trade Manager (Design) and Kyung-ah Lee, Trade Officer (Clothing, Fashion & Footwear) from the British Embassy in Seoul will be available for one-to-one meetings to discuss your specific queries and concerns individually.
