Japan 6 Months On

Just six months ago the triple blow of the earthquake, tsunami and consequent nuclear incident had a devastating effect on Japan.

But, with remarkable resilience, the country and its people are recovering, and while there obviously remains much to do in rebuilding and rehabilitation, they clearly believe that getting business back on track will help to get the country back to normal.

Yew Lodge Hotel, Kegworth, Derby
Wed 20th Jan 2010, 17:15 to 20:00

This event has finished.

In the current economic climate your supply chain is fundamental for not only minimising costs but also for driving value and competitive advantage through your business.

More and more companies are tapping into global sources of supply to take advantage of the significant opportunities for cost savings but while the potential is real, it can also present a variety of challenges.

Join us at emita’s next seminar on Wednesday 20 January 2010 at the Yew Lodge Hotel, Kegworth to gain an invaluable insight into managing the complexities of global sourcing and taking maximum advantage of the potential benefits.

The evening will open with a focus on sustainable procurement and our guest speaker, Dominic Limbrey, will address the challenges that overseas procurement brings, how to implement a robust procurement process and retain control of cost, quality and lead time and the trading options to consider. In addition, Dominic will provide practical examples of companies approaching sourcing in the right and wrong ways, including issues from supplier selection through to product specifications. This will be followed by a case study of a local company’s experiences of working with a Chinese partner to produce their products and the supply chain they have in place to meet their customers’ needs.

There will also be the opportunity to hear from Dr Shefaly Yogendra, an independent adviser to investors and entrepreneurs, who will discuss sourcing from India as an alternative to China and the pros and cons this emerging market brings including a view on IP rights, legislation, quality control and ethical standards. Finally, the practicalities of sourcing from India will be explored with tips and advice on where to start and how to make it happen, managing risk, developing and maintaining relationships with partners in the supply chain and the distribution channels through and from the country. Before bringing the evening to a close, there will be an open floor discussion with our experts to address specific issues on sourcing and supply from the audience.

Prior to the seminar, there will be the opportunity for 30 minute personal meetings with some of our partners free of charge. The following experts will be on hand to provide you with tips and advice:
