Exporting starts at home

A short while ago I dined at a very well known Leicestershire venue that attracts people from all over the country. The dessert menu included 'a selection of French cheeses'. Nothing wrong in that you may say but ponder a little longer and you begin to wonder why specifically French cheeses. That venue is but a few miles from the source of some of the best cheeses in the world, made locally in Leicestershire. The UK more widely makes a huge range of some of the finest cheeses that money can buy.

emita Director Philippa Allan gains an OBE in the Queens Birthday Honours 2009

Philippa Allan gains an OBE for services to business in the East Midlands and international trade.

Philippa, 68, from Marsh Lane near Eckington, is a director of Stone The Crows interiors gift shop in Dronfield.

The past president of the British Jewellery and Giftware Federation, member of the UK Trade and Investment Main Board and emita director said: "I am totally amazed by all this, I am extremely honoured."

All staff and Directors of emita would like to offer our congratulations to Philippa and wish her all the best for 2009.
