East Midlands businesses got the opportunity to discover business potential in emerging overseas markets.

East Midlands businesses got the opportunity to discover business potential in emerging overseas markets thanks to an exclusive event held by emita and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

The Emerging Markets event which took place on 25 February at Holywell Park, Loughborough, treated delegates to an insight into some of the world’s fastest growing markets in the Middle East and the Asia Pacific, clearly illustrating that there really is too much potential to ignore.

Guest speakers on the day included the President of Boeing UK, Sir Roger Bone and the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Senior Analyst for South Asia, Anjalika Bardalai.

East Midlands businesses benefited from attending specialist workshops hosted by overseas industry experts, to learn of potential opportunities emerging in India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

The event closed with a networking lunch where delegates got the chance to talk to local companies already doing business in emerging markets, to share advice and experience.

John Green, Director of Nottinghamshire company Greenlight Partnership said: “What we have learnt today, will allow us to structure our export plans more systematically. The Emerging Markets event has really given us a fantastic insight into what economies are hot.”

Encouraging businesses to explore new markets, Emerging Markets is one of many events scheduled to take place this year, with UKTI already planning for Japan Day and Australia Meet the Buyer, which are both happening later this month.
