What are the Opportunities?
There are significant trade and investment opportunities both now and in the long term in virtually every sector.
The UK is Turkey`s fourth largest source of imports from the EU, with a value of US$6.5 bn.
Turkey has a strong foundation to recover from the global economic slowdown. There are long term developments in the transport infrastructure (e.g. the Marmaray rail link), and energy infrastructure (including the Nabucco and BTC pipelines). There is an ongoing privatisation programme, including the leading ferry operator (IDO) and the gas distributor (IGDAS). Turkey is a signatory to the Kyoto protocol and there is growing demand for sustainable technologies.
