Japan 6 Months On

Just six months ago the triple blow of the earthquake, tsunami and consequent nuclear incident had a devastating effect on Japan.

But, with remarkable resilience, the country and its people are recovering, and while there obviously remains much to do in rebuilding and rehabilitation, they clearly believe that getting business back on track will help to get the country back to normal.

International trade has been at the centre of Bob’s working life for more than 30 years, apart from a brief flirtation with factory management which only served to prove to him that his future lay back with international marketing.

He has experience of a wide range of sectors, ranging from shoe machinery and rubber and plastics, through to synthetic surfaces for sports pitches and safety surfacing in children’s playgrounds. Bob has developed export markets throughout the world from Chile to Cambodia and USA to Japan.

Since 1996 Bob has worked as the Senior International Trade Adviser for The Northamptonshire Chamber. He is now the Executive Manager at UK Trade & Investment's International Trade Centre in Derby.
